Fable is looking for part-time Booksellers who genuinely love books, enjoy talking with readers, and care about creating a thoughtful bookstore experience. This role supports the bookstore floor through guest service, checkout, shelving, displays, pickup orders, event support, and daily operational tasks. You do not need to be an expert in every genre, but you should have a strong interest in books, reading culture, and helping guests discover stories they’ll love. A strong Bookseller is curious, organized, warm, and willing to keep learning — whether that means finding a title, recommending a read, tidying a display, checking an order, or helping the sales floor feel inviting and easy to browse.
What You'll Do
- Welcome guests and help create a warm, thoughtful bookstore experience.
- Help guests locate books, browse sections, place orders, and pick up purchases.
- Process bookstore purchases, gift cards, online pickup orders, and event check-ins.
- Restock shelves, tidy displays, organize backstock, and keep the sales floor guest-ready.
- Support receiving, labeling, shelving, inventory counts, and other bookstore operations.
- Assist with author events, story times, book clubs, private rentals, and community programming as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Warm, dependable, and comfortable helping guests.
- Interested in books, storytelling, community, or independent retail.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn bookstore systems.
- Comfortable balancing guest-facing service with operational tasks.
- Able to stand for a shift and lift typical bookstore inventory boxes.
- Afternoon and occasional evening availability preferred.
