Uncensored Connections: A Banned Book Mixer 📚

Let’s be real—trying to make friends or find a date on apps is exhausting, and meeting people at loud bars isn’t much better. If you’re a reader who wants to get out, meet some new people, and have a genuinely fun night, skip the swiping and come hang out with us on October 10th.

This mixer is for everyone. Come on your own or bring friends—we’ll take care of the rest! No pressure, no awkward networking—just delicious cafe drinks, books, and some very questionable reasons for banning them.

So how does it work?

When you arrive, you’ll pick out a wrapped mystery banned book based on its clue card and open it to find out what you got. You don’t need to have read it (or even heard of it!) because the original book blurb will be on the back, and we’ll have a custom notecard inside explaining exactly why the book was challenged or banned.

Your book becomes your conversation starter for the night. We’ll have quick, low-pressure rounds where you can talk about your book, debate whether its banning makes any sense, compare favorite tropes, or just see where the conversation takes you. No forced icebreakers or awkward introductions—we’ll give you something to talk about and let the rest happen naturally.

Your ticket includes your mystery banned book to take home, your choice of specialty themed drink from the cafe, and a full evening of engaging book chats.

We are limiting capacity to make sure there’s space to talk, and we’ll be aiming for an even number of attendees so everyone has someone to chat with.

Come for the mystery book. Stay for the banter. Leave with some great memories and maybe some new people in your life.
